This is a part-time position, therefore statutory benefits would apply. Should work hours increase consistently to 30+ per week. Employee will be eligible for all benefits available to full-time employees.

Position Description


Primary Function and Scope:
Assist in technical writing and production of technical documentation to include product/equipment manuals, operations and maintenance instructions, cut sheets, and training to be utilized by internal and external customers.

Duties & Responsibilities: 
Essential Functions

  • Use of Microsoft Office to assist in the creation of the company’s manuals to accompany the manufactured systems. **
  • Document machine operating procedures. **
  • Photograph key components of machinery for inclusion in documentation. **
  • Proof read documentation for spelling, grammar and format. **
  • Organize manufacturer’s literature for key components. **
  • Observe internal equipment run-off to assist with the creation of manuals. **
  • Understand and incorporate industry standards into documentation as needed on a customer to customer basis. **
  • Establishes and maintains a helpful, friendly atmosphere with customers and peers.
  • Observe safety procedures.
  • Any other task assigned by management within the scope of position, federal and state regulations.

Qualification Requirements:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.(1)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  A minimum 1 years’ work experience in a technical communication field is preferred.  Two-year college degree in technical writing, engineering technology or mechanical drawing preferred.  Familiarity with the automation or manufacturing industry is a plus.  Familiarity with the high level functions of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required.  Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Excellent written and oral communication skills in the English language required.  Able to effectively interview and gather information from many sources.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  Ability to calculate figures.

REASONING ABILITY:  Able to simplify complex concepts or processes to maximize reader comprehension.  Wide variety of duties requiring considerable judgment to work independently such as devising new methods, adapting or changing standard procedures to meet new conditions, and making decisions guided by precedent and within established policies.

OTHER:  Knowledge of Excel, Word, Power Point and Adobe programs.  Experience in researching on the Internet.  Skilled at reading and interpreting blueprints.
