Memorial Services Planned for Edline Chun, Former Chapter Member

The Rochester Chapter mourns the sudden and tragic loss of Edline Chun, long-time member of STC, respected educator and editor, and dedicated community volunteer.

For more than 20 years, Edline was a Professor in RIT’s College of Imaging Arts and Sciences, teaching courses in Professional and Technical Communication. Her recent area of interest was in revamping the graduate research process in the School of Media Sciences.

In addition to her participation in STC Rochester, Edline volunteered with several community organizations, including North East Area Development, Sojourner House, Literacy Volunteers, and NeighborWorks Rochester, where she’d been a board member for 29 years.

A native of Hawaii, Edline stayed true to her roots and was active in Rochester-area Hawaiian cultural and performing groups, often serving as a mentor to younger community members.

Edline will be deeply missed by friends, students, colleagues, and the greater Rochester community

STC Rochester has been contacted by Karla Kuzawinski, a close friend of Edline’s with this request:

To commemorate Edline’s life, I would like to put together an image stream of photos, thoughts, and pictures of things that were meaningful to Edline.

Would it be possible for you to tell me more about your interaction with Edline and share any stories, photos or thoughts that you, and/or others from your group, may have that would help me reflect that part of Edline’s life?  Thank you.

Anyone who would like to contribute a memory for this tribute can send it to Carmel Priore-Garlock (cpgwriter@frontiernet.net) who will forward them to Karla.  Photos are especially welcome.
