Formalizing the Technical Communication and User Experience Relationship

Central New York Chapter invites members of the Rochester Chapter to participate in this year’s meetings. Following are the details of the first meeting on Friday, July 26th, 2013.

Formalizing the Technical Communication and User Experience Relationship

Presenter: Lori Fisher, IBM

Date: Fri Jul 26, 2013

Time: 1:00 p.m. – 2:20 p.m. (EST)

Venue: Welch Allyn, 4341 State Street Road, Skaneateles Falls, NY 13153 (SS_Seneca Conference Room)

DIAL-In INFO: 877-912-6720, Passcode: 8540462

Invited guests should arrive at Welch Allyn reception by 12:55 to be escorted to the conference room.

Description from the Presenter: We must move beyond collaborative synergy and matrixed teaming of technical communication and user experience to a more formalized relationship, where dedicated user experience skill becomes required staffing for technical communication projects. The user experience must drive the optimal information experience and the required information architecture and design.

The presentation is about 64 minutes long followed by 10-15 minutes of discussion.

Questions to Consider from Bobbi: To what extent does the IBM model intersect with your company’s? What do the intersections and the points of departure say about technical communication and UX relationship, project execution, etc. What we are doing well? How we are on target or ahead of the curve? Where we might consider alternatives to current practice? Other questions provided by YOU!
