Instructional Designer – Bosch Security Systems – Fairport NY

Position Summary

The Instructional Designer is responsible for the design, development, coordination and implementation of technical training solutions, including certification programs.  This position requires managing multiple projects with tight deadlines and within determined budgets.  Primarily, this role is to develop programs to train installers, programmers, and technicians on Bosch equipment using a blended learning approach.  Technical aptitude is required for this role. The Instructional Designer will perform all functions and responsibilities in conjunction with Bosch Security Systems values and mission. Ability to travel is up to 25% of the time is required.
Principal Responsibilities
  • Provide instructional design and project management in the conception, design, development, deployment and maintenance learning solutions.
  • Design and create instructor led and self-paced training courses, utilizing web-based and mobile platforms, specifically with products such as Flash/Captivate.
  • Design and develop sound instructional aids and simulations for instructor-led or online use, for example, creating video tutorials.
  • Develop master course documentation or manuals according to applicable accreditation, certification, or other requirements.  This requires keeping current in adult learning concepts and certification requirements.
  • Interview subject matter experts or conduct other research to develop instructional content.
  • Make recommendations regarding course design, technology, and instruction delivery options.
  • Measure the effectiveness of training in conjunction with Techn ical Support, Sales, and Marketing.
  • Work effectively with product launch teams and other functions to deliver high quality, timely training solutions
  • Other duties as assigned
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university with a minimum of a Certificate in instructional technology or other learning discipline. 
  • Minimum of 3 years demonstrated proficiency in designing, building, and deploying instructor E-learning modules using various development tools including: Captivate, and Adobe.
  • Experience with multimedia and web design technologies including Conferencing/Webinar technologies
  • Minimum of 3 years proficiency in developing instructor led training programs
  • Competent in video recording
  • Previous experience in the Security or Communications industry is a plus
Special Skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of SCORM and other usability standards, as well as user interface design methodologies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of latest eLearning design standards.
  • Excellent verbal, written, listening communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adopt to a continuously changing environment and work within ambiguity
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, execute and deliver on multiple training design projects
  • Effective time management skills, proven ability to work independently
