Instructional Designer I

Description

  • Provides accurate and timely training materials to employees through analysis, research, instructional design, and writing practices and standards.
  • Researches, designs, writes, and edits training material for various delivery methods including, but not limited to classroom presentation and self-study.
  • Applies basic instructional design principles to the development of training materials, training plans, exercises, and exams for technical and non-technical topics.
  • Determines specific job task objectives and content for training material using effective interviewing and research techniques. These techniques include, but are not limited to, personal interviews, reading/analysis of project documents, reading/analysis of existing documentation and training material, using the Internet to access relevant information, and soliciting/referencing external expertise (such as industry experts, textbooks, seminars, etc.).
  • Participates on project teams by interfacing with Training Center project managers and trainers, as well as software developers, project managers, support personnel, writers, and end-users to develop various types of training material.
  • Communicates effectively with functional and project manager regarding project status.
  • Maintains an understanding of the roles, responsibilities, work environments, and training needs of assigned business units and training audiences through networking and other field contact.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of training to address any immediate concerns and identifies opportunities for future improvement.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • minimum one year related experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, and project management skills are required. Experience with Web-authoring tools and formal exposure to instructional design principles are preferred.
