Senior Learning & Development Specialist, Staples, Rochester NY

**Position Summary:**

As a member of the NAC Learning and Development team, the Senior L&D; Specialist is responsible for the design, development, and delivery or implementation of NAC learning programs to new and existing associates and managers across all NAC locations. Candidates should have a strong understanding of adult learning theory and formal instructional design methodologies, including the Kirkpatrick’s evaluation model. The Senior L&D; Specialist should be able to write for different mediums (e.g., web based training, facilitated workshops, blogs, etc). Additionally, excellent facilitation and coaching skills and the ability to maintain a cooperative learning environment and effectively manage group dynamics are also essential. Facilitating new programs is an important aspect of this position.

**Primary Duties And Responsibilities:**

**Program Design & Development**

* In partnership with the instructional design team and following formal instructional design methodologies, the candidate will design and develop a variety of sales and technical training programs including but not limited to: new hire training, workshops, systems training, and product training. He/she must demonstrate the ability to write clearly defined learning objectives and build detailed content outlines and assessments from these objectives. On a regular basis the L&D; candidate will partner with local leadership teams to assess and revise . training materials to ensure business needs are met. Additionally the candidate will perform detailed needs analysis and create post training assessments focusing on knowledge retained and skills application. Using formal templates they may be called upon to create a variety of training related materials including: task matrices, task analyses, participant guides, e-learning material, multimedia presentations, leaders guides, quick reference cards, and evaluations. As a developer they create online training using Adobe Captivate and other learning software. The candidate regularly participates in peer evaluation and mentoring to ensure consistency and that best practices are being adhered to. Reporting to the Manager of Learning and Development, this role must proactively anticipate potential obstacles and meet timeframes for multiple deliverables. They must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
**Program Delivery**

* The candidate is responsible for delivering new hire training as needed. They must demonstrate strong facilitation skills using formal adult learning principles and Learning and Developments end-to-end process. Facilitation focus should be on experiential learning. During new hire delivery, they will work in partnership with the team managers to ensure associate compliance with Staples/Quill policies and procedures. They are also responsible for facilitating additional training to support ongoing initiatives. This may include virtual facilitation to our work at home associates. Experience in this area is a plus.
**Personal Contributions**

* The candidate actively participates in his/her personal development by executing on action items agreed upon with his/her Manager throughout the year. He/She must exhibit positive work habits as related to schedule adherence, daily production with strict deadlines and interaction with his/her Staples team. Attend and participate in required team meetings . Execute on business needs as required, being mindful to consistently support Staples and Quill initiatives and understand how his/her contributions affect the Learning and Development team and the broader NAC learning organization.

**Basic Qualifications:**

* 3-5 Years of Training Development and Delivery experience, with strong platform and coaching skills
* Microsoft Office Proficiency must be an expert user of MS Word, MS PowerPoint
* Proven ability to work with minimal direct supervision and interact with peers and managers in remote locations.
* Willingness and ability to travel 25% of the time.

**Preferred qualifications:**

* Bachelors Degree in Business, Communications, Education or Liberal Arts preferred
* Strong knowledge of Adult Learning Principles and formal instructional design methodologies; the ability to develop training for a variety of different mediums.
* Strong facilitation, communication, presentation and writing skills including facilitating virtual programs.
* Demonstrate determination and commitment to produce quality work in given timeframes, with appropriate attention to detail.
