Under general direction, the Senior Technical Writer is responsible for the development and execution of a wide range of editorial projects for external and internal audiences. Plan, develop, implement and edit writing projects such as user manuals, installation manuals, training manuals, help documents and tutorials. Work with management to establish writing goals, strategies and plans. Counsel internal clients on editorial matters.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Guide management to develop writing goals, strategies and plans.
  • Plan, schedule, research, edit and write a wide range of documentation projects.
  • Work with requesting department staff to prepare outline of contents and written text ensuring that content accurately defines specifications and operational procedures.
  • Design and coordinate layout and organization of manuals and other documents. Prepare outline of contents and written text.
  • Interpret necessary data, drawings and specifications through research and liaison with technical staff.
  • Manage large scale writing projects while ensuring quality and on time deliverables.
  • Provide consulting services such as template design, SharePoint site templates/design and training facilitation.
  • May direct the activities of other writers and manage the efforts of outside editors and illustrators.


Bachelor’s degree preferred


  • Five plus years of directly related experience


  • Strong working knowledge of organization product line(s), customer requirements, purpose and structure of document and user’s level of understanding
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Expert skills with appropriate technology tools
  • Ability to absorb and learn new concepts/technologies quickly
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to layout information logically
  • Strong project management skills
  • Able to interpret and communicate technical information to a non-technical audience
  • Ability to read code in order to translate various platforms and languages preferred
