The Society of Technical Communication will award the Rochester Chapter with top honors at Summit, the annual national conference. For the second straight year, STC Rochester will receive the Platinum Community Achievement Award. In recognizing the Chapter with this top designation, STC’s award committee cited STC Rochester for its outstanding programs and activities in 2016:
“For your exemplary work in recognizing and nurturing volunteer involvement, helping students of all ages learn about the technical communication profession, and collaborating with other STC communities in knowledge sharing, most notably with your Virtual TechComm Showcase meetings.”
STC Rochester’s Virtual TechComm Showcase also earned the Chapter the 2017 Pacesetter Award. This virtual program enlisted presenters from three different STC communities to share in Adobe Connect webinars in February and March 2016. Both programs had attendees from across North America. These “innovative and collaborative” programs “provided many benefits to participating communities, STC members, and stakeholders at the same time,” according to the award committee.
STC Rochester will be recognized and receive certificates for both awards during the Summit Leadership Day event in Washington D.C. May 7.
