Technical Trainer, HP Hood, Batavia NY

Job Summary:

The Technical Trainer delivers training programs to dedicated trainers and facility leadership, and oversees the qualification, testing, and record keeping of training events. The Technical Trainer develops and conducts initial and recurrent classroom and/or on-the-job training, employing the necessary training aids, tools and data in accordance with the HP Hood- Batavia training programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Help shape the ongoing strategy and mission of HP Hood through interactive, discussion based and hands-on training seminars dedicated to trainers and facility leadership on a regular schedule within the Batavia Training Program.

Assist in developing & maintaining technical training content, lab exercises, presentations, assessments and accompanying materials.

Work with trainers and facility leadership to ensure accurate, effective training content.

Assist in the development of a formalized Train-the-Trainer program for HP Hood- Batavia

Manage & collaborate with technical writer in designing, delivering & continuously improving the facilities technical training program.

Blend traditional learning approaches with existing and new technologies while utilizing a variety of learning tools, techniques, concepts, and practices in order to create and deliver effective learning programs.

Effectively communicate with manager regarding training/facilitation, program or project status.

Proactively work with internal and external project team members to identify and resolve issues.

Administer, grade, maintain results of written and practical exams, and publish reports and data logistics regularly.

Mentor and train internal and external authorized trainers as part of a Train-the-Trainer program

Create courseware using MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel and using available graphics and multimedia software.

Complete and maintain currency of training information and material (update training materials in conjunction with Company policy/procedural changes).

Ensure that Company and regulatory policy and procedures are followed.

Ensure that training content is accurate, complete and up-to-date by consulting the appropriate resources.

Revise training curriculum and methods as needed to improve effectiveness.  

Education and Experience:

4-5 years of proven experience as technical trainer

Knowledge of modern training techniques and tools in technical subjects

Experience designing and developing instructor-led content with technical subject matter content.

Ability to address training needs with complete courses

Working knowledge in MS Office Suite (especially Powerpoint)

Outstanding communication skills and comfortable speaking to crowds

Ability to develop or assess materials that will help participants understand the subjects being taught.

Familiarity with Learning Management Systems

Excellent organizational and time-management abilities

Degree in a relevant technical field preferred

Certification such as CTT+ (Certified Technical Trainer) is preferred

Ability to work well with people.

Self-sufficient, self-starter with proven success taking ownership of training projects

  • Support SQF by maintaining food safety and food quality through completing job tasks and maintaining the work area in a sanitary manner.
  • Report food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.

This position is full-time, permanent, and located on site at the plant in Batavia, NY.
