Technical Writer, LSI Solutions Inc. – Victor, NY

  • Collaborate with Engineers, Product Development staff and Subject Matter Experts (SME) in coordination/preparation of drafts and final versions of documents. 
  • Analyze documentation requirements for a product and develop documentation plans that meet customer needs and match Engineering schedules for a product release. 
  • Edit, clarify and proofread documents written by Engineers and mentor members of staff with less writing experience. 
  • Create, update and/or review Documentation Change Request (DCR) and Bills of Manufacturing (BOM). 
  • Establish and enforce the use of standard work format for technical documentation. 
  • Translate complicated information into practical language. 
  • Review and revise as needed any existing documentation to assure they meet the evolving industry requirements. 
  • Coordinate document development projects with other teams/departments. 
  • Serve as a Liaison between Engineering, Discovery and Production. 
  • Responsible for the on-time delivery and quality of the documentation for a project.


  • Report to work on time, including returning from breaks and lunch periods. Understand and comply with Quality System requirements. 
  • Complete assignments on time, stay on task and minimize interruptions of work. 
  • Adhere to all Company policies and procedures, per the LSI SOLUTIONS® Employee Manual. 
  • All other duties as assigned. 


  • Associate?s degree in technical writing, technical communication or similar discipline is required. 
  • 3 years of experience as a technical writer. 
  • Experienced in Manufacturing Industry environment preferred. 


  • Ability to simplify complex technical information into user-friendly terms; skilled in asking appropriate questions in order to determine user understanding. 
  • Ability to work effectively with cross functional teams. 
  • Skilled in writing in a clear and concise way. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with a proven ability to understand and communicate technical concepts in a compelling, persuasive manner. 
  • Possesses a solid understanding of document standards and criteria. 
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions, both written and verbal. 
  • Able to communicate with team members in a manner that results in a positive outcome for both sides, including instructing/coaching when required. 
  • Able to work independently as well as alongside team members. 
  • Operate in a fast-paced, dynamic, deadline-driven environment. 
  • Experience with MS Office. 
  • Maintain good and cooperative relationships with colleagues involved in other aspects of the process or operations in order to promote strong teamwork. 
  • Mechanical aptitude. Experience with manufacturing equipment. Comfortable with technical terminology. 
  • Comfortable challenging others when standards are not being adhered to.
