Technical Writer, Optanix, Syracuse NY

Optanix is actively seeking candidates who have demonstrated progressive experience in technical writing. The Technical Writer is responsible for creating internal and customer-facing product documentation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will possess demonstrable experience in creating product documentation for a technical audience for software and hardware offerings.
  • Ability to work within software development release timelines
  • Ability to communicate progress, and revise documentation using technical (subject matter expert) feedback and editing feedback
  • Ability to write using technical styles, while using an internal style guide and the Microsoft Manual of Style (MMS)
  • Ability to work independently, in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work well within a team

Qualifications/Skill Requirements:

The successful candidate must possess:

  • Experience manipulating graphics, layouts and screenshots in order to enhance the appearance and ease of use of
    technical content
  • Ability to interview technical personnel efficiently
  • Solid documentation skills (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe, WordPress)
  • Technical Writing degree, equivalent degree (such as English or Computer Science), or equivalent work experience (such
    as technical support case documentation)
  • Experience in creating documentation for any or all of the following technologies is preferred:
    • Router and Switch methodologies
    • Wireless Networks
    • Linux platforms
    • IP Telephony/Video
    • SQL database
  • Able to participate in special projects and perform related duties as assigned by department management
  • Additional duties may include after-hour documentation support duties.
  • The successful candidate will work in the Syracuse, NY office.
