Summary of Job Duties and Qualifications

Primary Function and Scope:
Engage in technical writing and produce technical documentation to include product/equipment manuals, operations and maintenance instructions, cut sheets, and schematics to be utilized by internal and external customers.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

Essential Functions:

  • Create the company’s manuals to accompany the manufactured systems. **
  • Document machine operating procedures. **
  • Photograph key components of machinery for inclusion in documentation. **
  • Coordinate the appropriate drawings to supplement documentation. **
  • Organize manufacturer’s literature for key components. **
  • Assist with risk assessment and operator safety guidelines. **
  • Observe internal equipment run-off to assist with the creation of manuals. **
  • Understand and incorporate industry standards into documentation as needed on a customer to customer basis. **
  • On required projects, coordinate compiling GAMP/FDA information with project teams and prepare final documentation for such. (e.g. Functional Specifications (FS), FMECA’s, Risk Assessments, etc.) **
  • On required projects, prepare Accession Reports to the FDA for laser applications. **
  • On required projects, assist with the CE certification process and documentation. **
  • Establishes and maintains a helpful, friendly atmosphere with customers and peers.
  • Observe safety procedures.
  • Any other task assigned by management within the scope of position, federal and state regulations.

Qualification Requirements:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.(1)

Education and/or Experience:  Two-year college degree in technical writing, engineering technology or mechanical drawing preferred.  A minimum 5 years’ work experience as a technical writer in the automation or manufacturing industry required.  Familiarity with CE, GAMP, and FDA procedures and documentation a strong plus.  Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Language Skills:  Excellent communication, writing and revision skills required.  Able to effectively interview and gather information from many sources.

Other:  Knowledge of Excel, Word, Power Point and Adobe programs.  Experience in researching on the Internet.  Skilled at reading and interpreting blueprints.
