What to expect at Spectrum 2021

On Saturday, April 17, registrants for the morning and afternoon workshops can log in to a Zoom meeting in the morning and another in the afternoon. The workshop host and leader will explain how to participate during the event. Registrants will have the links to log in ahead of the workshop day.

On Sunday, April 18, Leadership Day registrants will log in to a Zoom meeting that starts at 12:30 pm. The Spectrum manager will briefly review logistics, and the facilitators will let everyone know how the discussions will proceed. A program on diversity, equity, and inclusion will be followed by an update and discussion about STC starting at 4:00 PM, and hosted by Rochester Chapter member and STC Immediate Past President Ben Woelk. Registrants will receive the link to log in ahead of Leadership Day.

Registrants will receive a navigation guide with the links to log in to the Common Room and session rooms ahead of the main conference day, Monday, April 19. On that day, this is what to expect:

  • There will be five virtual presentation rooms on the main conference day. A Common Room will be open for the keynote and special events offered for everyone, and open for presentations as a session room at other times.
  • Some of the sessions will be offered in an interactive discussion format.
    • The presentations for these sessions will be uploaded to a Google drive.
    • Registrants have the link to view the presentations before the main conference day; after you register, you will receive the link from Spectrum.
  • Review the Schedule to decide which sessions you want to attend.
  • For the discussion sessions you plan to attend, if you are able, view the pre-recorded presentations before the main conference day, April 19, and have your questions ready to ask the speaker. Speakers summarize their presentations at the main conference day session.
  • Some presentations will be given live on April 19.
  • All of the sessions and special events will be recorded and added to the folder on the Google drive.
    • The video of people attending will not be included in the recordings.
    • Questions you pose in the chat or via audio will be recorded.
    • If you do not want to be recorded, you may contact the speaker with your questions, using the contact information in the presentation.
  • During Spectrum you can look in the navigation guide or on the Schedule page to see which presentations are in each room.
  • The recordings of the discussion sessions, the presentations made live on April 19, and special events will be available on the Google drive for registrants for one year after Spectrum 2021.
