Workshop Descriptions

Saturday, April 17, Morning Workshop

This workshop has been cancelled. It may be held later in the year.

Living and Leading in Turbulent Times, Amy Friend

There are a few things that are certain in this world: birth, death, and change. How we perceive change greatly impacts how gracefully or painfully we navigate it. This was quite obvious 16 years ago upon the sudden passing of STC super-member, Steve Ridley. At the first Spectrum after his passing, we talked about managing change both personally and professionally.

The changes we are experiencing today are just as if not more severe. Unprecedented global crises result in social, political, environmental, technological, and medical consequences. People who can’t adapt are most likely to experience issues with health, wealth and well being.

This session covers models and strategies– old and new– to help you cope with change and support others during turbulent times. Participants will explore stages of change, feelings associated with change, and best practices for facing change with resiliency and grit.

The presenter, Kelly Scrank, has a session on the main conference day on a similar topic, at 2:30 PM ET: Low-Cost and Low-Effort Ways to Create Infographics and Visually Appealing Slides.
